16 April 2004 - Everything But the Kitchen Sink

Sometimes it is okay to eat cookies for breakfast.

Sometimes it is okay to eat cookies for breakfast four days in a row.

I was at my parents house on Sunday and I mentioned to my mom that I felt like making cookies for a change. I'd made quite a fabulous cake the night before for dessert and wanted to have something completely different -- something reltively easy for dessert after S.'s and my Sunday dinner.

My mom, being the undying Martha Stewart fan that she is, suggested Martha's Kitchen Sink Cookies. How can you possibly go wrong with oatmeal, raisins, chocolate chips, coconut and walnuts? You can't.

While I was making them; stirring in each additional ingredient to the basic cookie dough, I kept thinking, "perhaps I shouldn't add the raisins". "Maybe the cookies don't need the coconut". "You know, these would be just as good without the walnuts." But, I decided to take Martha's word for it, and although the list did seem more like a grocery list than ingredient list for something as petite as cookies, I added them all, right down to the last piece of shredded coconut.

Make them. Add ALL the ingredients. Trust me. Trust Martha. They were delicious. And I do mean "were". I made them on Sunday and had the last two -- for breakfast for the fourth day in a row today. MMMMmmmmm.

And: for Jim...voila, a flower nail (not that Angela's description wasn't bang on).
