01.december: sweet chips

I am definitely a carb-craver - I won't even attempt to deny it. S. and I came to this undeniable conclusion the other day while doing some grocery shopping; I love carbs and he loves sugar. He kept pointing out chocolate and candy that he wanted to buy and I kept drooling over bags of chips and loaves of bread.

I don't know what makes a person crave certain foods; some people attest to the fact that your body craves what your body needs...um...well...as much as I would love to say that that is the gods-honest truth, I don't know how much stamina that theory has these days. Probably about as much stamina as I have lately...none too much.

But, what about pregnancy-related cravings? Those seem to be altogether different. For some reason they seem to be overwhelming (and I do not speak from any more than an audience's perspective on this, in case you're wondering) for the woman - someone I know who is pregnant right now was craving fish and chips so much that she ate it three times last week! Three times. Of course I would LOVE to eat fish and chips (remember Wena's Fish-Themed IMBB?..yum!) three times in one week...but I don't. No. I really don't. Another friend told me she craved cherries during her pregnancy -- apparently she ate a few gallons of cherry ice cream during those nine months.

I often wonder what it will be that I will crave then, when my time comes...? Chips, probably. For the carbs and the salt -- I always know when I'm dehydrated because I instantly crave chips because of the salt content. My body is so easy to predict that way...perhaps because I don't eat a great deal of salt in other places, or maybe because of the blood pressure medication I take dehydrates my body so easily and I need salt to hold in what little water stores it might have.

These sweet-potato chips are probably just the thing for that salty-carb craving; especially with a delicious wasabi-flavoured dip-with-a-kick!
