berry-filled sangria

ingredients:

ice cubes
1 cup washed and hulled strawberries
1/2 cup washed blueberries
1/2 cup washed raspberries
juice of 1/2 lemon
1/4 bottle dry white wine
1/4 bottle dry champagne
1 bottle rose zinfandel
1/4 cup lemon-infused vodka (or strawberry or raspberry)
2 cups white cranberry juice
1 1/2 cups soda water

instructions:

1. Put ice cubes in bottom of pitcher, toss in fruit on top of ice along with lemon juice.

2. Add wine, champagne and vodka. Stir.

3. Retire to someplace comfortable with two glasses and a good friend. Drink the sangria and don't forget to indulge in the quite inebriated fruit...especially as the evening progresses.

Changes, hints, tips and thoughts for this recipe:

this recipe changes every time we make it -- depending on what wine is on hand and what we feel like. Also the fruit can be just about anything -- the strawberries were the best after about an hour of soaking time; the raspberries started to disintegrate and the blueberries didn't absorb much alcohol...but stayed very tasty.

this recipe can also be made with red wine; we usually do that in the winter...it's a bit heavier and better for cooler weather indulgences.
