2005-08-31: fast breakers
It's no secret to most people that I forget to eat a lot of the time. Sometimes I'm too busy, other times I just don't feel hungry, but it's really not a good cycle to get into.
For example: what did I have for dinner last night? A slice of pound cake and a banana. Breakfast on Sunday before I spent the whole day in the sun at a water park? A peach. Lunch today? A skim milk vanilla latte. Not good...not good at all (particularly for someone who calls herself The Domestic Goddess!). To combat this, I try to whip up treats for myself and S. to take for lunches or snacks, or to eat for breakfast while S. and I are driving to work.
This week I wanted to incorporate peaches into these fast breaking treats - because peaches are sticky sweet and in season right now and won't be here for long. I always long for a bite of a fresh Ontario peach in the dead of winter and this might be a good way to incorporate them into something freezeable. I would love to warm one of these beauties up in February and munch on it on my merry way to work in the morning...wouldn't you?
By the way, Nigella is feeling good. She has mitral insufficiency and mitral valve dysplasia, for which she will have to take medication for the rest of her life. She does sleep a bit more than our other cat and will probably not grow as big, but we are hoping she will be with us, stealing bites of our food, for a long long time.

| Jun 30, 2007: | Mehgan (http://craveperfection.blogspot.com/) Hi Jennifer. Just wanted you to know that I used your recipe tonight and they turned out wonderful! I post pics on my food blog, along with a link to this recipe so that you'll get the credit for them, not me. I didn't want you to get mad at me! Also, I would like to make your Kitchen Sink Muffins, too, so I hope you don't mind! I'll be sure to give credit where credit is due on those ones, too. Thanks for being such a culinary inspiration for us all, you rock! |
| Sep 8, 2005: | tara (www.sevenspoons.net) I have been baking up a storm with peaches lately, as I've been attempting to gorge myself before they're gone. An Ontario peach is a thing of beauty, indeed. These muffins may be added to my freezer stash! So glad to hear that little Nigella (the gorgeous thing she is) is doing well. |
| Sep 3, 2005: | Niki (http://esurientes.blogspot.com/) Oh dear. I have the opposite problem. I eat too much, too much of the time. Even when I'm not hungry. Want to swap???? |
