2005-11-04: a virtual cookie swap
Coming up with the recipes for an assortment of holiday cookies doesn’t have to mean countless days of searching, thinking, scrounging and trying to recall family favourites. Why not come up with one or two of your favourite recipes, then share them with your friends? That’s the idea behind this month's joint Is My Blog Burning – Sugar High Friday Cookie-swap Party!
Alberto and I are inviting you to join us for this festive holiday gathering and are asking you to share a batch or two (or three…or four) of your favourite homemade cookies (and the recipes!). We're certain we will end up with a wonderful mix of confections, treats and sugary snacks for this upcoming holiday season – without the stress of having to look any further than our two blogs for inspiration. I for one hope it become a holiday tradition.
On top of the bounty of recipes you will be indulging in on the day of the round-up (which will be divided between both Alberto’s site and my own) there are also “prizes” to be won. Scoot on over to my forums, and you will see a description and photo of a very yummy(!) cookie book called “The Cookie Sutra”. I have managed to secure a dozen of these delightful stocking stuffers for 12 lucky winners. How will we ever judge the winners, you ask? Well, I won’t…and Alberto won’t…but YOU will! While you read through the round-ups, please email us before December 8th and let us know your top three favourite recipes and who posted them (please, don’t vote for yourself – someone will, we’re sure!). The top twelve most selected entrants will get a copy mailed to them – just in time for the holidays!
Remember: any and all bloggers...or readers of blogs... or complete strangers without blogs (!) are welcome to take part, whether they regularly blog about food or not. The theme is "Cookie Swap" and the weekend for this joint IMBB-SHF is Friday November 25th – Sunday November 27th, 2005. The cookies don't have to be made on that weekend, but your entry and recipe should be posted then. Share the recipe for your cookie(s), and try to include a picture too if possible; we would all love to see what they look like! Once your entry is posted, please email us (at our joint cookie swap email address) with a link to your recipe, your blog, your name and where you are located. We will include it in a post that lists all of the participants and their recipes the following week. I know this is American Thanksgiving (thanks, Amy!) so if you are going to be too busy or otherwise engaged, feel free to write up and post your recipes/entries the weekend before and let us know - you will still be included in the round-up and the cookie book contrest.
... um, are you really still here? I'm sorry, but don't you have a huge batch of cookies to bake, package up and bring to a Cookie-Swap? Come on, then! Get baking!
And if you want to use an image to link to the SHF/IMBB Cookie Swap, feel free to use these Cookie-Swap Buttons!
